DonÕt Spend it All In One Place

As a young child, I would get some money and my mom would tell me, ŌNow donÕt spend it all in one place.Ķ  For the employees of the district, that is unfortunately now true.    For last night in a 4-3 decision, the board approved a whopping 1 % raise for the hard working employees of the district.

Molinosky and Loredo teamed up and produced a magic show full of half-truths, smoke screens and deceptions.  It was quite comical to watch Loredo get more and more flustered when Liza Montelongo, who obviously came prepared to fight for ALL employees of the district, questioned his numbers.  When asked about the discrepancy between his ADA numbers and those of the ones retrieved from TEA, he got extremely defensive towards Liza and told her the TEA numbers were wrong!  I am sure TEA appreciates that.  He was also unable to answer questions, which he, the Ōmoney manĶ of the district should know.   He deferred several times to another man in the audience.    I could almost see the strings on the back of his head as his master pulled them.  His presentation was so ridiculous that we, the audience, had a hard time controlling our snickering!  We had to be hushed by our superintendent; who by the way only scolded those there from YTA.  During the break, security was informed to keep an eye on us. Us being YTA.

Molinosky was up next.  His act was almost as bad.  He again said the median was not the average.  If itÕs not, then what is?  Someone needs to give this poor man a tutoring session in 5th grade math!  He looked at Bentley for his cues. One could assume that is who pulls his puppet strings.   Ms. Montelongo went after him concerning the grandfathering of certain stipends.  Now this makes one wonder, why would anyone take on extra duties, more work resulting in more time away from family but not receive a stipend even if the teacher before had?  But I am certainly going to go after a coaching position because their stipend is so much more than an academic one.  We must have our priorities in place.   How ignorant does Central Office think we are?  Finally, the proposal from TASB was for a 2% raise but Molinosky insisted that was only for comparison purposes.  TASB really was only suggesting we get a 1% raise.  Ray Mendoza tried with no success to remind them nowhere in the TASB booklet was 1% even mentioned.  Molinosky assured him that was the original intention.  Ray, you gave it your best!

Marty Reyes was quiet throughout the entire meeting until she knew she could create the most havoc and cause the extreme damage.  She once more showed her true anti teacher colors, when she called for an amendment to the motion from 2% to 1%.  At that point, it was over for us.  There was nothing that Ray, Liza or Carmen could do for us.   When President Munoz called for a vote, Ward visibly wavered and then voted against employees of this district, which ironically include his wife.  Wonder what pillow talk is going to be like in the Ward house tonight!

This 1% raise is an insult to all of us here in YISD.  However, it is a double insult to our bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, grounds keepers and the list goes on.  Next time you see these hard working, dedicated employees; take a minute to thank them for their hard work.  Let them know that while Central Office Administration has proven it doesnÕt appreciate what they do for us and for the students of this district, we do!

Now your raise isnÕt going to burn a hole in your pocket, because there isnÕt enough.  But be very careful you donÕt spend it all in one place!
